e.g. The effective yield on a 30-year fixed-rate loan fell 42 basis points to 6.16%, and the effective yield on a 15-year loan fell 51 basis points to 5.48%.
The yield of a bond, assuming that you reinvest the coupon (interest payments) once you have received payment.
Reinvesting the coupon will produce a higher yield because interest is earned on the interest payments.
